Joseph or Josephine Stubinger

Samuel Newcomb (BMN #296) was born 4 May 1775, the son of Cyrenius Newcomb (BMN #116, b. 15 Jan 1749). The old Newcomb books say Samuel's wife was Joseph Stubinger, but I wonder if  she was really named Josephine.

  1. My understanding is that her name is Josephette, but I have seen it spelled many ways. A transcription of her baptism record (part of the Drouin collection for Quebec) says, "Name: Josephte Louise Luce Stubenger, Event Type:Baptême (Baptism); Baptism Date: 1787-1791; Baptism Place: Boucherville, Québec (Quebec)".
