Finding Newcomb relatives

A reader wrote the following:

My name Debbie Stiles and my father was Meredith Newcomb Stiles. For that reason I was interested in the website the Newcombs of America. I am distantly related to a Georgie Claxton Newcomb Love who apparently had a son named George Love who would be 102 if he were alive. I don't know how to do this sort of research. George Love is probably dead - an address I have that is many decades old is George Love 35 Walnut St. Brockton. How do I find out more? stilesda@charter.net

Ira Marvin Stansbury

A reader wrote the following:

ID: 1156137. (R.K. West Master List). Ira Marvin Stansbury. He was my grandfather. The book Andrew Newcomb and His Descendants by Bethuel Merritt Newcomb is listed as a source for the information listed in RK. West's Master List. I am unable to locate a copy of that book. I think I may be a cousin, but I am very new at genealogy and could use some help to determine where we fit in with the Newcombs. Emily Madalene Newcomb was my great grandmother.

I don't know if the book Descendants of Baptist Newcomb would be helpful tracing my family lineage, but if so I would purchase it.

Thank you for any help you can give to me.

Green County Kentucky

A reader wrote the following:

A line of Newcombs originated in Maryland and found their way to Kentucky in the 1790s and early 1800s. The base line ancestors that have been well documented are Mathew (MD - 1795), Isaac (MD - 1793), and John Wesley "Turk" MD 1790. The family names they married into in my line were Holland, Davis, Caulk, Benningfield, Sapp, Burris (var. sp.) among others. This line populated the Rolling Fork Branch of the Salt River Watershed and the Valleys of the upper Green River in central Kentucky.

At one time this line of Newcombs was well discussed on this site and others.

I will be sending email ticklers to some who have contributed here-to-fore and invite new submitters for this line.

I have come down through a branch that has the spelling of Newcome. That change was due to an enumerator's error in the 1850 Census.

Have you other Newcombs come across my line?

Harold & Mildred Newcomb Family

A reader wrote the following:

I'm wondering if any of my family members are a part of this forum? My Grandparents were Harold & Mildred Newcomb of Stockton, California. My father was Harold Gene Newcomb of Las Vegas, Nevada. I have living uncles, Dwight and Douglas Newcomb, one living aunt, Elaine Kelling, and deceased aunts, Carol and Marilyn. Most of my family lived in the Stockton California area. If anyone has any connection, I would love to hear from you. My Grandma has left behind a hand written account of our genealogy that dates back to the 1800's. I'd love to meet others who are part of my heritage.

Thanks for taking time to read this!
