Richard Fairchild Newcomb (1913-2004)
Mr. Newcomb was the author of six books, two of which become best sellers; "Abandon Ship!" in 1958 and also 2001, and "Iwo Jima" in 1965. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II, and received a Purple Heart.
