Ira Marvin Stansbury

A reader wrote the following:

ID: 1156137. (R.K. West Master List). Ira Marvin Stansbury. He was my grandfather. The book Andrew Newcomb and His Descendants by Bethuel Merritt Newcomb is listed as a source for the information listed in RK. West's Master List. I am unable to locate a copy of that book. I think I may be a cousin, but I am very new at genealogy and could use some help to determine where we fit in with the Newcombs. Emily Madalene Newcomb was my great grandmother.

I don't know if the book Descendants of Baptist Newcomb would be helpful tracing my family lineage, but if so I would purchase it.

Thank you for any help you can give to me.

  1. Lois, I believe Ira Stansbury was a descendant of Andrew Newcomb. So the Baptist Newcomb book will NOT help you. The book by Bethuel Merritt Newcomb is out of print, but old copies and reproductions can be found for sale online. If you have an account with Ancesty.com, I believe the book can also be searched online there. If you're interested in the book, try doing a search at alibris.com, or on eBay. In the meantime, I'll see if I can find out some more information for you.

I now have a repro of the Bethuel Merritt Newcomb book. I have scanned your list of Ancrew Newcomb descendants but I don't find your ID # 1126348,Marvin Alonzo Newcomb who is the father of ID # 1126351, Emily Madaline Newcomb, mother of Ira Marvin Stansbury (II56137). Will I find them on your list?

    Thanks....Lois Holter

  3. Lois, sorry not to respond sooner. I have Marvin Alonzo Newcomb in my database. I find him in Bethuel Merritt Newcomb's book on page 477 and on page 679. I hope this helps.
